From instant chemistry to a heartfelt Newport proposal, Alexis and Derric’s love story has felt meant to be from the very start.

The Meet Cute: Alexis and Derric met online and instantly became inseparable. The first date involved axe throwing, and their chemistry was so tangible that the instructor asked how long they had been together. “Our connection continued to grow from that point, and it was clear very early on that we had found our forever,” says Alexis.
The Proposal: The pair pulled up to what Alexis believed was just another photo shoot in downtown Newport with her best friend, Kelsey of Kelsey Lauren Photography. Since they had done plenty of shoots together before, Kelsey’s suggestion for a photo shoot on Goat Island, Alexis didn’t think anything of it. Little did she know, Derric had been planning something much bigger. In front of the Goat Island Lighthouse, he got down on one knee and Kelsey captured Alexis’ true surprise and joy of the moment. The couple will wed in August 2027 at Glen Manor House in Portsmouth.
