The hairpiece is a big deal. Some ladies like a touch of glitz, others go for sweeping veils or silk adornments. Me, I’ve always wanted to glide down a grassy aisle, locks wild and flowing, with fresh baby’s breath and daisies for a crown.
But every person I know with bridal, floral or hair design experience raised an eyebrow and scoffed. They’ll wilt, they told me, and look droopy and sad in pictures. So, sigh, I bought a veil on impulse when I picked out my dress. Don’t get me wrong: It’s a pretty, dainty thing with pearls and it dolls up my dress a bit (see photos here). But I was still torn over the no-flowers-in-the-hair rule, especially if I could shed the veil for the reception and fix on a pretty flower crown. I took to Etsy — where else? — to investigate a way around it.
Options abound! See below for my favorite handmade, nicely priced finds, one of which might appear atop my head on the big day.
