Score One For A Cause

Brides Against Breast Cancer 1What’s better than scoring a Vera Wang bridal gown for $700? Scoring the couture gown of your dreams for $700 and knowing that $560 of the purchase price will support programs for breast cancer patients, their families and their caregivers.

BABC_Logo_850pxBrides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) is a nonprofit organization that sells new and gently used bridal gowns and wedding accessories at a savings of 25–85 percent. Headquartered in Florida, BABC is in the midst of a “Nationwide Tour of Gowns” that aims to hit 100 cities this year. The traveling boutique of sorts is coming to Crowne Plaza Warwick this weekend. For a tax deductible ticket price of $20, you can attend a VIP event on Saturday evening and get first dibs on the inventory. General admission tickets for the event on Sunday, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., are $5 each (also tax deductible). They have gowns in sizes 0 (yes—zero is actually a size) through size 30. Gowns are donated by individuals, designers, manufacturers and bridal shops. Think of this as the ultimate sample sale without the claws and cat-fights, and eighty cents of every dollar raised goes to charity. Simply put, this opportunity just plain rocks, ladies.

Not only is it a great cause, you just may walk away with a couture gown that would otherwise have been out of your budget. Better yet? They offer twelve-month layaway. To purchase tickets, click here.
