Couture Gowns on the Cheap and for a Cause

Brides Against Breast Cancer 1Feeling the stress of finding the perfect dress? How would you like to get the gown of your dreams (and a designer gown, may I add), for less than $800? Better yet, how would you feel knowing that part of the purchase price would be donated to programs that help breast cancer patients, their families and caregivers. Now, that sounds like a win-win to me.

The nonprofit organization, Brides against Breast Cancer (BABC) sells thousands of new and carefully worn dresses and accessories every year from the donations of bridal retailers, manufactures, designers and individuals. These designer and couture dresses vary in style and sizes range between four and eighteen, but all are offered at a savings between 25 and 85 percent.

BABC is headquartered in Florida and with their Nationwide Tour of Gowns they organize trunk and bridal shows across the country, and annually raises two million dollars for their programs, ensures cancer patients with the information and resources they need to fight their battle. BABC will host a charity show in the lovely Providence Biltmore Hotel this weekend. A VIP ticket (a tax deductible $20) for Saturday’s show, which runs from 5:30–9 p.m., give you first pick of the inventory and a sampling of light snacks and signature drinks. Sunday’s general admission tickets are $5 (also tax deductable) from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. You will be able to look through dresses, meet Providence’s top wedding vendors and be involved in BABC’s exciting giveaways.

Not only is this a great cause, but you might even walk out of the Biltmore with an under-budget drop-dead gorgeous couture gown in hand.
