Add a pop of purple to your color scheme.

The day has come: Pantone has announced its 2014 Color of the Year. Say goodbye to Emerald and hello to Radiant Orchid. Now, let’s be clear. We loved Emerald — in fact we still do — but Radiant Orchid is a bright and lively showstopper.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes Radiant Orchid as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones.” The color, she says, “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” While the Pantone color is precise in its hue and color code – (PANTONE 18-3224), we are being a tad lenient with its exactness and pulling inspiration from an array of purples and pinks.

In terms of fashion, Radiant Orchid’s rosy notes will flatter both women and men. We’re thinking statement necklaces for bridesmaids and a smashing bowtie and sock combo for the guys. Whether you want to limit the color’s captivating presence to small pops here and there or go big and bold, it is bound to entice and excite your attendees. The beauty of this color is its ability to enhance most color palettes. Radiant Orchid mixed with navy, silver, cream, aqua and even our old favorite Emerald. We can easily accept the new color’s reign.

From bright bouquets and sassy heels to dazzling tablescapes, there is a place for Radiant Orchid at your upcoming nuptials. Check out our Radiant Orchid Pinterest board here to see what we love in 2014’s hottest color.
