The Trends

Rather than one traditional wedding cake, couples are looking for a decadent display of beautiful, bite-sized desserts. This super fun trend lets couples choose a multitude of flavors and concepts for the guests to enjoy. Wedding cakes used to have a bad reputation for being too sweet and dry, especially back when highly detailed fondant work was trendy. Although plenty of talented bakers have repaired this misconception, there are still people who would prefer doughnuts, pie or even ice cream sandwiches over cake. For us, this is a special opportunity to highlight the couple’s favorite flavors and draw inspiration from their history as a couple or family traditions. It becomes a very personal expression and can be a real show-stopper, too!

The Tips

Wedding desserts often have to compete with dancing. If you want your guests to enjoy both, put your dessert display or wedding cake table somewhere that is accessible from the dance floor and not hidden in a corner. Another bonus of a dessert display is that you can choose bite-sized options that are easy to pick up and enjoy in between songs and mingling, without having to sit down at a table with a plate and fork.
