Tell us how you met: My fiancée’s family opened a coffee shop across the street from where I work. I walked inside and ordered my first of many cups and fell in love with her beautiful smile from day one. We went out as friends and made trips together for awhile, but Holleigh wasn’t interested in more than that, or so she told me. Well,  two years later and hundreds of cups of coffee and un/dates and trips together, she finally said yes to a first real date.

Tell us your proposal story: Our friends, (my prom queen, Erin, from high school and her husband, Dave) have a time share in the Berkshires and invited us to come along. The plans were made and we were all set to go. However, Erin got sick and they decided it was best not to go, but told us we still should. It wasn’t what we wanted, but a free vacation was what we needed. The wheels started turning and new plans were quickly made on my part. This was it, what better way and place to propose than on vacation in the mountains? We started our trip, and while driving and making the usual stops, little things you may call ‘signs’ from our family kept showing up. Holleigh just thought it was odd but I knew it was their way of saying it was the right time to ask her. We arrived, and after a day of learning to snowboard and walking around in way-too-tight boots, it was time. It was the last run of the day and I had been getting down on one knee to fix her boots all afternoon so she didn’t thing anything of it when I knelt down this last time. Other skiers were smiling and clapping while whizzing by. I looked up to see that amazing smile I’m in love with and she was stunned. Waiting for her shock to disappear seemed like a lifetime but it was worth the wait. She said yes! Then she took off down the hill without falling once. Myself, on the other hand, fell at least a half a dozen times. Now, as I sit here away on a trip for work, I can’t wait to get home and continue preparations for our Big Day. 193 days and counting.
