Although, both Jared and I are from Cranston, our story really begins in Los Angeles, CA.
Being from opposite ends of Cranston and four years apart, we didn’t meet until after high school, and by meet I mean he would come into my work from time to time. One of those times, he mentioned he was moving to California and I figured I would never see him again. Over the next year or two, Jared would come back to Rhode Island for holidays and I would see him out but that was it. Then in 2008, I decided to transfer to a college in Los Angeles and reached out to Jared, since I knew absolutely no one.
From the day that I moved to LA, I don’t think we went a single day without talking. We stayed friends for the first year, both pursuing our own, different relationships. I even introduced him to some of my friends from college, until we ended up giving it a try sometime around graduation. I decided to come back to RI for a summer (because let’s be honest, it doesn’t get much better than summer in RI). I ended up taking a great job and decided to stay in RI, while Jared stayed in LA. We survived long distance for some time, before Jared moved back to RI in 2015. A little over a year went by before I woke up on a random Sunday morning to Jared proposing. We were at home, just the two of us, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Now, a year later, we’re back to our Rhode Island roots — we are getting married at the end of June and are in the full swing of planning.
