Stephanie Petronelli of Foster, RI, and John Greenhalgh of Glocester, RI, are set to wed on August 8, 2020 at Crystal Lake Golf Club in Burrilville, RI.

How We Met

These two love birds met back in the seventh grade when braces were in and John still towered over Stephanie. He was the first boy to twirl her ’round the dance floor at the Halloween dance. The two remained close friends throughout middle school and high school until they went off to different colleges. They reconnected over Facebook their sophomore year and went out on the town during Valentine’s Day weekend at the Mews Tavern in Wakefield, Rhode Island. They don’t know if it was the beer, burgers, or goodnight kiss but the rest was history. The two dated throughout college and spent most of their fall weekends at Meade Stadium at the University of Rhode Island. Stephanie and John purchased their first home in Chepachet, Rhode Island, in February 2018 and live there with their four-legged hound dog, Cooper. On August 8th 2020, they will be dropping their best moves on the dance floor as Mr. & Mrs at Crystal Lake Golf Club.

Our Proposal Story

After a bit of a chaotic morning at the firehouse, the guys at Barrington Fire came together in order for John to make it to the jewelers before they closed. Unbeknownst to Stephanie, John had the ring in his pocket and a bottle of Champagne chilling in the garage when he got home. The couple hopped in the car and headed out to Henry’s Christmas Tree Farm in Hope, Rhode Island, to find their first Christmas tree.

While out searching for the tree, John got down on one knee and popped the question. Stephanie obviously screamed, cried and forgot to say yes. They snapped a few photos to document the moment among the trees, hopped on the hayride back to their car and called all their family and friends to share the news. Over the last six years, the couple has gathered ornaments from each place they have set foot on. This made it even more special decorating their first six-foot Douglas Fir — with a little bubbly in their glasses and an extra sparkle on her finger.

The couple went back to their old stomping grounds, the Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingstown, to recreate John’s proposal among the evergreens for their engagement photos.
