Join us in swooning over this Block Island blissful wedding, a quiet escape from the bustling coastal wedding scene.

The Meet Cute

We grew up in the same town and our lives crossed paths many times — starting with Jared’s mother babysitting Julia’s cousin, David, who officiated the wedding.

The Proposal

After going to a Celtics game with friends, just after midnight on Nov. 11, 2021, Jared proposed in bed.

The Planning

We had a weekend-long wedding celebration on beautiful Block Island. We love the quirkiness of the town and the beauty of its beaches. It’s almost like you’re transported back in time before cell phones and fast food joints became posted on every corner. It’s not commercial, and we love that it’s run by small businesses and families that have been on the island for generations.

Luckily, there were no challenges planning, but on the wedding weekend, we dealt with Hurricane Ian! The day after our wedding, we all had to evacuate the island as the ferries were coming to a halt. I was so thankful that my actual wedding wasn’t affected. Thankfully, all our guests got off the island and home safely!

The Highlights

The ceremony was a dream. On the front lawn of The Spring House, I surprised my guests by coming out of a door at the inn across the street and had a long walk down the aisle to a string trio. Years ago, my father sang and played the guitar at his own wedding, so he did the same for our ceremony.

The reception was in the parlor of the Spring House Hotel. Highlights include welcoming our guests to the dance floor with espresso martini shooters and the seven-piece band we hired, Silver Arrow Band. I was a New England Patriots cheerleader, and the wedding party entering through a “players’ tunnel” with my former teammates holding pompoms, just like game day.
