Mia Palombo of South Kingstown and Doran Bercovici of Charlestown are engaged! The two Rhody natives will wed at the beautiful Roger Williams Park Botanical Center in Providence on June 15, 2024.
Doran and Mia met at the Charlestown Rescue Holiday Brunch in 2018, but really they had met several times before. Doran was good friends with Mia’s childhood friend who thought they would be perfect together. Doran also volunteered on the rescue with Mia’s sister, who saw Doran as a big brother and spoke very highly of him. Doran likes to say he and Mia met at Java Madness in Wakefield many years before, when he recognized her from Snapchats that Mia’s sister had sent him, but the brunch served as the perfect place for conversation and sparked their relationship. A simple “DM” later that day turned into D and M.
Popping the Question
“I have a nutty idea”
Doran convinced Mia to wake up at 5 a.m. to see the sunrise to check off an item on their Rhode Island bucket list before she moved to New Jersey to pursue a Ph.D. Doran, however, neglected to check the weather report. So at 5:30 a.m. on August 6, 2022, enveloped in fog at the compass near Point Judith Lighthouse, Doran gifted Mia a wood-burned timeline of their relationship and got down on one knee. “You’re my best friend.” The easiest “yes!” of her life. No sunrise to be seen, but still worth the early wake up!
Planning the Big Day
We’re having our closest family and friends join us. We picked the RWP Botanical Center because we wanted to be surrounded by nature, and the conservatory was a great option to choose because no matter the weather, we get to enjoy beautiful trees and flowers! If our guests know anything about us it’s that we love to have a good time! We’re hoping for a celebratory night of laughter, dancing and great memories that’ll last a lifetime.
