The Meet Cute

Michael and Katrina met on Eighth Street in New York City (in the Village). Katrina was walking down the street with one of her best friends. Michael was visiting New York on business with a few friends. Their eyes met, but Katrina kept walking. Michael began walking alongside her until he convinced her to stop and talk. After forty-five minutes, they agreed to exchange numbers. Months later, they finally decided to go on a date. During the fluid conversation, the couple realized they were the last people to leave the restaurant before it closed.

The Engagement

The proposal was a huge surprise.  Katrina thought the couple was going out on a friend’s yacht with about eight other people to celebrate someone else’s birthday. Once aboard, Michael secretly had a friend start a video chat with their respective families. The video attendees were also surprised, as they thought Katrina was set to receive an award. After a mock toast, Michael turned to Katrina to express his love and get down on one knee, and then he popped the big question. Of course, Katrina said “Yes!” and they partied until the wee hours.

The Wedding Party

The couple agreed not to have a wedding party. Michael was honored to have one of his best friends, Jonathan Glass, on hand during the preparations to make sure he was properly “suited and booted.” Katrina was accompanied by her lifelong friends, Mildred Silva, Lisa Robinson and Leslie Edwards.

The Highlights

“There were several moments that felt very surreal where everything seemed to be in slow motion,” the couple recalls. “The moment when Katrina’s father joined us together at the altar in front of our family and friends was simply magical. The blessing of having both of our parents present was truly significant considering the recent pandemic. However, if you asked anyone in attendance, they will all say the reception and afterparty were epic!”
