These high school sweethearts tied the knot at the Warwick Country Club.

The Meet Cute: A true high school sweetheart story. The couple met as teens through mutual friends, and in typical high school fashion, they loaded up into cars and headed to the local drive-in movie theater for a double feature. As romantic as it gets, the couple shared their first kiss atop the car under the stars on a beautiful summer night.

The Engagement: On a weekend trip to Portsmouth, NH, filled with good food, drinks and kayaking, they went for a walk in the evening. As the sun was crossing the horizon, Tom dropped to one knee and popped the question. “It was a definite yes!” Sophie recalls.

The Little Things: These two didn’t let their parents’ support go unnoticed. Sophie bought each of her parents a customized gift: Her mother was given a handkerchief, and her father a tie, both with personalized embroidery. The gifts were simple but given in appreciation of their support, not only with the wedding process, but as well as in Sophie’s life leading up to that moment.

The Wedding Party: Sophie was lucky enough to be surrounded by her closest friends on her special day. Her best friend, David, happily joined her other friends and sister in the bridal party.

The Details: In the lounge area of the Warwick Country Club, the couple placed a Polaroid camera and a frame for guests to take pictures in place of a guest book. A wonderful way to remember the day, the frame of the hundred-plus pictures hangs in their living room.

The Highlights: Aquidneck Island isn’t the only spot for a beautiful backdrop. “The ceremony site with the Narragansett Bay in the background gave us some breathtaking photos that we love to look back on,” Sophie says. “The guests and ourselves enjoyed the outdoor deck and field all throughout the night.”
