Trusting another florist with her vision turned into one of Libby’s standout moments for her and Andrew’s big day.

The Engagement: Andrew popped the question on a beach on the north shore of Oahu in 2023. The pair had just moved to Hawaii earlier that year, and had been together for eight years at that point. Andrew got down on one knee while they were taking pictures in front of the sunset.

The Venue: It was love at first sight when the couple first saw pictures of Glen Manor House, where they immediately envisioned their wedding. “Everyone was so kind and accommodating from the start, working with our time difference while we were living in Hawaii,” Libby says. “The communication was always amazing, overall so professional and they made you feel important. It was the only venue we actually reached out to and met with; once we talked to the coordinators, we were sold.”

The First Look: The soon-to-be husband and wife were nervous about their first look because of how built up the moment was. They exchanged private vows during the first look since the thought of doing the vows in front of everyone was a bit daunting. “The first look really took all the stress away and reminded us to have fun and enjoy the day,” says Libby.

The Highlights: As a florist, getting to see her floral vision come to life was one of Libby’s highlight of the day. At first it was hard to hand off the task to someone else, but David of David Gregory Flowers allowed her to be a part of the planning process. “I came to him with notes that, to any non flower person, would seem like the outline of a crazy person’s mind,” Libby jokes. “David understood the assignment immediately and executed it all so beautifully.”
The couple also enjoyed sitting back for a moment to see everything — that they had spent so much time planning — finally fall into place. Andrew especially loved the food, which he was very excited about since the start of the planning process.

Libby and Andrew took the time to find string quartet versions of their favorite songs for guest arrivals and cocktail hour. “We thought it would be a really fun way of getting in our favorite songs that (in their regular versions) aren’t quite ‘wedding songs,'” Libby says. “It was funny to hear from the guests afterwards, asking if they guessed the song correctly.”

The Advice: “When picking your vendors, the most important thing to listen to is the vibe you get and the connection you make,” says Libby. “Being in the wedding industry myself, I really see this as the biggest thing to look for, right after aesthestics and general fit. It’s also so important to outline what is important to each of you. No two weddings should be identical; they should reflect your personalities.”
