A simple first date turned into years of adventure, ending one Labor Day afternoon with a surprise proposal by the sea.

The Meet Cute: Jennifer and John met during the pandemic — when dating looked a little different. During their first date, the pair quickly realized how effortless it was to talk and laugh together. What started out as a sushi date night turned into countless adventures, from bowling nights to vacations and just simply enjoying each other’s company.
The Proposal: On Labor Day 2025, Jennifer and John spent the day in Gloucester, MA, and concluded the afternoon walking along the beach searching for sea glass. When Jennifer heard her name suddenly, she turned around to find John down on one knee in the sand. The couple will wed in August 2026 in Bristol, RI.
