From a rejected date invitation to a wedding day that can only be described as “Happiness” at Kirkbrae Country Club.

Paul and Teressa met through an online dating website. He tried initiating a conversation but got no response.

A year later, he tried again.

Teressa admits that she may have been a tad “jaded” around that time. “I was like, ‘I never like anybody. It’s probably a waste of time.’ I told him I wouldn’t go for dinner, just a drink.” But, Teressa knew the moment she sat down that her first instincts were off. “I was usually Joe Cool-girl on dates, but I was like a little girl hiding behind the menu. I was giddy.” The drink lasted for hours.

Two years later, Paul led her by the hand to a rock in the middle of a lake in the mountains of New Hampshire, “he got down on one knee, said the sweetest words I’ve ever heard,” and asked her to marry him. It was her birthday.

The laid-back couple, who planned their wedding in ten months, didn’t let anything get them stressed. Asked to describe the overall feel of the day, Paul says, simply, “Happiness. It was such a good time.” —Jennifer Steffy Swanson
