From college friends to lifelong partners, Brenna and Eli bonded over rainy camping trips — until their engagement finally broke the streak.

The Meet Cute: Brenna and Eli met in 2013 while studying Civil Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. They started off as just friends before reconnecting several years after graduating, and began going on outdoorsy adventures. They officially started dating in 2018, and moved to Providence together a year later (before moving to East Providence in 2022). Eli took Brenna camping for the first time, and as luck would have it, it decided to downpour. This became a tradition; every year, on their annual camping trip, it would rain again and again every time.
The Proposal: On August 1, 2023, Eli popped the question to Brenna in their home. They went camping a couple weeks later, and this time, it didn’t rain, meaning one thing: The engagement broke their rain curse.
